I’ve written before about yubnub.org, which bills itself as “a (social) command line for the Web”. I’ve created a few tax-related commands, which I find very helpful in my work day-to-day, especially when I’m blogging.
- taxcc—Searches the CanLII Tax Court database. For example, ‘tcc 2005 tcc 232′ will find the case with that neutral citation. You can also search using casn names.
- fca—Searches the CanLII Federal Court of Appeal database. Its syntax is the same as the Tax Court command.
- cras—Searches the CRA website. ‘cras charities directorate’ will find hits containing the words ‘charities’ and ‘directorate’.
- canliistat—Searches for a statute name in the CanLII statute database. ‘canliistat business corporations act’ will find all the statutes having that name in each of Canada’s jurisdictions.
- swb—Searches for reference to the key word in this blog. ‘swb ensite’ will find all references to the Supreme Court of Canada decision in Ensite v. The Queen.
